Sunrise Rotary President

Key West Sunrise Rotary Club in the Conch Republic named its new President Ron Demes, left, during a ceremony June 27. 2013-14 Sunrise Rotary President Scott Duszynski and District Governor Ellen Blasi presented the gavel to Demes signifying his year as president. It was also announced that day that the club is the first 100 percent Paul Harris Fellow Club in the Florida Keys. Rotarians who contribute $ 1,000 or more or donations made for others to Rotary’s annual programs fund may become a Paul Harris Fellow, which is named after Paul P. Harris, founder of Rotary in 1905. As of June 30, all Key West Sunrise Rotarians were Paul Harris Fellows. The donations contribute to Rotary International’s effort to eradicate polio worldwide.

The Sunrise Rotary Club in the Conch Republic was founded in 1988 to become the first Rotary Club in the Lower Keys to allow women members. It meets every Friday at 7 a.m. at Trumbo Palms on Trumbo Point in Key West.
