Key West's Poet Laureate and Artist KIRBY CONGDON Opening Reception and Poetry Reading This Weekend
The multi-talented Kirby Congdon was given his first solo art show in Greenwich Village in 1961; at that time he specialized on constructions he called “found objects.” Congdon has countless publication credits and was the premier winner of the Key West Art in Public Places sidewalk poetry competition to have his poem stamped in concrete, on the sidewalk outside Captain Tony’s Saloon. The unveiling took place last Friday, April 25.
This week, beginning Friday, May 2nd, Congdon will be exposing a collection of his artwork. He will also be featured at the Key West Poetry Guild’s “Lightening Round” event on Sunday May 4th.
The opening reception for Kirby Congdon’s “Collages” is this Friday, May 2nd from 6-8 pm at Blue Heaven, 729 Thomas Street, Key West. The show will run through Sunday, May 4th.
