Sculptures are popping up again this Spring on Stock Island.   More than a dozen local artists are installing their works among the native flora and fauna at the Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden located on College Road.  A huge grasshopper lurks in a butterfly meadow; a bonefish eludes anglers near the pond; a bird-goddess is the newest garden guardian.  Other forms, both abstract and representational, peek through the foliage along the boardwalks and pathways.  All works are earth-friendly and many are fashioned from recycled materials, adding to the “all natural” pleasures of the site.

The Catch

“The Catch” – Robert D’Antonio

This year, the event is dedicated to the memory of the late Lois Giffen, who curated the show in the past.  Three of her whimsical spring steel creatures greet the public near the visitor center.

Birdman #3

“Birdman #3” James Racchi

Come to the opening reception on Saturday, May 3rd from 1-3 pm.  The exhibit will remain on display through June.  The permanent collection of Nature’s art is available all year, seven days a week, 10 – 4.
