The Russians Are Coming – To Tennessee Williams Fine Arts Center! THIS SUNDAY!

Impromptu Classical Concerts will present a special, non-subscription performance by the acclaimed Chamber Orchestra Kremlin at Tennessee Williams Theatre, on Sunday March 30, 4:00 pm. The special concert is in commemoration of the 100th birthday of well-loved arts patron Florence Fox-Loeb, one of Key West’s “grande dames” in the very best sense of the term. For many years, Florence gave very generously of her time and her personal resources to the Key West art scene – especially the Impromptu Classical Concerts series which was dear to her heart.

Chamber Orchestra Kremlin was put together in the early 90s by Conductor Misha Rachlevsky, who had deep experience with Western chamber groups and was eager to tap into the vast reserve of talented Russian musicians. Described as a “young and polished group” by the Los Angeles Times, the group performs the full range of classical and contemporary chamber music repertoire. Indeed, The Washington Post declared them to be “one of the super ensembles on the current international scene”. Hosting the Moscow-based Chamber Orchestra Kremlin is a cultural coup for Key West, a positive – and much-needed! – note for perestroika, and is sure to be a highlight of the 2014 season.
