Performance artist Heather-May Victoria Potter and author/entrepreneur David Sloan are two of several acclaimed Key West based talents who will present live readings from tales of mystery-suspense and true crime, 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 16 at the Smokin’ Tuna Saloon Writers Room.

A criminally stellar lineup of Key West-based authors, actors and artists will present short readings from smokin’ hot mystery suspense novels, this Friday, May 16, 6-8:00 pm at the Smokin’ Tuna Saloon Writers Room, 4 Charles Street, Old Town, Key West.

The suspense story happy hour caper features performance artist Heather-May Victoria Potter reading from award winning crime fiction author Sandra Balzo’s “Murder on the Orient Espresso;” actor and stage director Richard Grusin interpreting selections from Michael Haskins’ Kindle Top 100 favorite, “To Beat the Devil;” and author, entrepreneur and Ghost Hunt proprietor David Sloan putting his own unique slant on the “quirkily engaging” mystery adventure “Reel Stuff,” by renowned Sarasota-based author Don Bruns.

Bringing excerpts from their own works to life are: the author who has been described as “the modern master of noir,” Mike Dennis, reading from “Man-Slaughter;” Jonathan Woods, called “…the David Lynch of short crime fiction,” reading from “Phone Call from Hell and Other Tales of the Damned;” and Florida Keys true crime author and journalist Terry Schmida, who will share “…gripping stories of the underbelly of paradise,” from “True Crime, Vol. 3.”

Friday evening’s sampling of mystery suspense and true crime stories is a prequel event of the upcoming Mystery Writers Key West Fest, a gathering of premier South Florida based true crime, mystery and suspense writers, produced by Key West Writers Bloc, that will launch its inaugural celebration of sleuthing June 13-15. Admission to Friday’s suspense-story live readings happy hour is free and open to the public.
