Poetry Guild Announces Lightening Redux
On Sunday Dec. 1 the Key West Poetry Guild returns to the 38-year-old group’s traditional format of an entire evening of lightning rounds. The meeting, as usual the first Sunday of each month, begins at 7 p.m., upstairs at Blue Heaven, at Thomas and Petronia streets in Old Town.
Featured will be at least two rounds in which all poets will be invited to read one original poem each. All meetings followed this format prior to the introduction of a monthly featured poet, spotlighting one Guild member, in 2011. It is expected that the practice of spotlighting one member will continue after the number of snowbirds and visitors increase.
At least one lightning round is held each month, regardless, and all in attendance are invited to read their original work. December moderator is J.M. Varela.
For additional information or directions please telephone Varela, aka Jean Gregory, at (305) 293-0902.
