Stephen LaPierre works on a nightscape of Walgreen’s, aka “The Strand” on Duval Street

Stephen LaPierre is offering free plein air painting sessions Wednesday evenings, beginning February 26, for those wanting to paint a nightscape of The Tropic Cinema at 416 Eaton Street.  The sessions, an opportunity for beginning and practicing artists alike to “paint the night,” and for interested observers, will meet from 7:30 to 9PM across the street from The Tropic for the next four weeks. Individuals should bring an easel or a chair and their own art supplies.  LaPierre will also offer a free artist’s talk from 9 to 9:30PM following each painting session.

LaPierre’s 2014 one-man show, “A Tale of Two Cities: La Habana & Key West en Plein Air,” is currently at The Tropic Cinema’s boutique gallery space, alongside the Jean Carper Theater, until March 20, 2014.  The show features numerous Key West nightscapes, along with dayscapes of Havana and Key West, never before exhibited.  For more information or to register for one or more sessions: [email protected] or 978 578 1546.
