Starting November 4th on Tuesdays and Thursdays, CoffeeMill Dance Studio will offer Modern Dance for adults from 10:30am-12pm.
The six week program will be led by Cricket Desmarais, who also teaches yoga and is keenly interested in helping students experience movement in a way that aligns with their own particular bodies and impulses.
“While I think it’s important for students to learn technique, I think it’s equally important that they feel good while doing so,” says Desmarais. “We all have our own ways of experiencing time and space through movement. I hope this class will be a way for students to explore that.”
The class will offer learning experiences in technique, breath and body awareness, shape and gesture, spatial dimension and volume, speed and time, energy dynamic, choreography and improvisation.
It is open to all levels of students, including beginners, and will be adapted to also accommodate those with more experience. Drop-ins are welcome, but attending the six week program as a whole is suggested as lessons will build upon each other.
