ASSISTED LIVING: THE HERON INSPECTION SUCCESSFUL

The Heron, currently celebrating 25 years of operation, is an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) in Marathon providing supportive housing for mental ill adults.  The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) recently completed its comprehensive biannual licensure inspection.  The inspection found the Heron in full compliance with all regulations and no deficiencies or areas of concern.

Heron-Peacock Supported Living is a local non-profit organization operates the Heron and Peacock Apartments in Key West.  Together, these facilities provide supportive housing for forty six persons with varying degrees of mental illness. Rick Casey, the organizations Executive Director, credits Administrator Clare Condra, Site Manager Ceri Checkley and the entire Heron staff as, “an organized and professional staff that care deeply about the residents and their care.”

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) regulates a variety of health care facilities which designed to assist persons with disabilities live as independently as possible while also receiving the support and care needed.  Assisted Living Facilities are designed to provide personal care services in the least restrictive and most home-like environment.  The Agency’s Division of Health Quality Assurance staff conducted a comprehensive on site audit of the facility in May and concluded the Heron in full compliance.

As a local non-profit organization, Heron-Peacock Supported Living relies on the support of the community.  Should you wish to learn more about the organization, make a donation or volunteer opportunities, please contact Executive Director, Rick Casey at (305) 743-5624.
