FLGLFF 2014 has expanded to seven days, includes more award-winning and diverse films, and features special events and parties that elevate this Festival to a new level, making it one of the most highly regarded LGBT film festivals in the nation.

FLGLFF takes place Friday, October 10 through Sunday, October 12 and resumes Thursday, October 16 through Sunday, October 19.

“This year’s FLGLFF promises to be the most spectacular one ever,” said Mark Gilbert, Interim Director.  “The Fort Lauderdale community has embraced FLGLFF, and we have responded by expanding to seven days, with 32 feature films and 18 shorts, along with special events and parties throughout the city.”

The Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale serves as a beautiful backdrop for Opening Night films and events on Friday, October 10.  The Filmmakers Soirée kicks off the evening at 6 pm, affording festival-goers the opportunity to mix and mingle with many of the filmmakers prior to the U.S. premiere of Four Moons, which will screen in the Horvitz Auditorium on the grounds of the museum.

Following the film, the Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB’s Office of Film, Music & Entertainment hosts FLGLFF’s Opening Night Grand Event, also at the Museum of Art. This elegant affair will feature flowing champagne and sumptuous hors d’oeuvres, musical accompaniments by a harpist, percussion band and DJ, and a “Marie Antoinette Living Red Carpet.”   Attendees will also have the opportunity to meander through the museum to view the exhibition, When the Stars Begin to Fall: Imagination and the American South.

“Fort Lauderdale is home to a dynamic, diverse community, voted as a favorite destination for the LGBT market worldwide,” said Noelle Stevenson, Film & Entertainment Commissioner, Broward Office of Film, Music & Entertainment at the CVB.  “We are thrilled to play an integral role in the growth of FLGLFF, showcasing our city to film aficionados, visitors and staycationers and helping to make this a world-class event.”

In a year that has seen momentous strides in LGBT recognition, LGBT films have also risen to prominence worldwide.  FLGLFF is proud to announce that this year’s roster includes two films that have been submitted to the Academy of Motion Pictures for 2015 Academy Award consideration in the Best Foreign Film category:  The U.S. premiere of The Way He Looks (Brazil) and The Circle (Switzerland).

In addition to the Opening Night Filmmakers Soirée before the first screening and the Opening Night Grand Event following the film, FLGLFF has events and gatherings planned throughout the festival.  Check online at www.FLGLFF.com for updates and details:
