The Key West Navy League Commissioning Committee invites you to celebrate “The Women of the Lighthouses” on Friday, 2 May, 5:30-8PM at the Key West Lighthouse Museum, 938 Whitehead Street.  Join us as we honor Ms. Kathleen Moore, the namesake of the next Coast Guard Fast Response Cutter being commissioned on 10 May in Key West, and all the Women of the Key West Lighthouse.

Kathleen “Kate” Moore devoted her entire life, to those at sea as the keeper of the Black Rock Harbor Light on Fayerweather Island, a small seaside community south of Bridgeport, Conn.  In Key West, Barbara Mabrity, Mary Carroll, and Mary Bethel replaced their husbands as the Head Keepers of the Key West Light Station.

Meet Key West writer, Joanna Brady Schmida, author of “The Woman at the Light” for a special book signing.

Your $30 donation includes entry to the Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters Museum, complimentary wine, beer, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts.  In addition, there will be silent auction items and a 50-50 raffle.

Come enjoy a rare evening opportunity at the Light, meet a few of the crew of the CGC KATHLEEN MOORE, and local community leaders.  All proceeds raised will directly support the historic commissioning’s of the U. S. Coast Guard Fast Response Cutters being home-ported right here in Key West.
