“No Impact Man” Is Open To The Public Through Partnership With
Green Living & Energy Education’s “Got Your Bags? Florida Keys” Program

For a second year, Key West Film Festival (KWFF) partners with Green Living & Energy Education (GLEE), utilizing the nonprofit’s event greening guidelines and inviting the public to enjoy a slice of the festival with a film that can help them “go greener” too. “No Impact Man” – free and open to the public – will be shown Sunday, November 16, 2014 at noon, at the Tropic Cinema, 416 Eaton Street in Key West.

Environmental awareness and protection again takes center stage at this third annual festival for movie-makers and movie-lovers, which runs November 12-16, and utilizes paperless reservations and ticketing for all events, along with other green initiatives to reduce waste. Again this year, KWFF will participate with GLEE to promote its “Got Your Bags? Florida Keys?” (GYB) program. The campaign promotes the voluntary elimination of single use plastic bags and other reduce-reuse-recycle efforts. Festival goers will each receive a special commemorative KWFF reusable shopping bag sporting the GYB logo for use while visiting the southernmost city.

“We are pleased that Key West Film Festival organizers choose to promote environmental protection while doing business in the Florida Keys,” said Shirley Gun, who serves on the GLEE Board of Directors, referring to Festival Founder and Chairman, Brooke Christian and local Director of Operations, Nadene Grossman Orr. “Getting to showcase an environmentally oriented film that both gives back and makes a positive difference for our community is also a highlight of our collaboration,” adds Gun.

This year’s film is called “No Impact Man.” Free and open to the public, residents and visitors in addition to festival-goers, are encouraged to attend. The film is a quirky eco-entertainment documentary that follows Manhattan writer, researcher and environmentalist Colin Beavan’s vow to make the least environmental impact possible for one year … along with his espresso-guzzling, retail-worshipping wife, Michelle, and their two year-old daughter. It is sure to give viewers many ideas they can also use.

“Got Your Bags? Florida Keys” will have an information table at the screening and all moviegoers will receive a complimentary reusable KWFF-GYB shopping bag so they too can reduce their own impact.
