Key West writer John Leslie is the next lecturer in this season’s Friends of the Key West Library lecture series—Monday, February 10, 6:00 p.m., Studios of Key West, 600 White Street.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Leslie will read from his most recent novel Border Crossing (2013), a story about a young man growing up on a Texas horse ranch in the midst of family breakdown, loss of father, the 9/11 event, and the controversies of illegal immigration.  Author of the Gideon Lowry Key West Mysteries, including Killing Me Softly and Blue Moon, Leslie ended the mystery series, spent some time crisscrossing the country as a long haul trucker, and launched his new writing direction with Border Crossing.  Now he divides his time between Key West and Sonoma, California, and is working on a new non-mystery that is partially set in Key West.

The Friends of the Key West Library weekly lecture series is free and open to the public.  Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.  This year’s lectures are every Monday, ending on March 17.  Next lecturer is cultural historian David Garrard Lowe, February 17.  FOL’s newsletter, including a list of lecturers, is located at http://friendsofthekeywestlibrary.org.
