KWHS Art Students Create Gymnasium Sized “Shark Tank”
Under the guidance of Key West High School art teacher Shannon Perkins, students are earning community service using their artistic talents to beautify the gymnasium at Sugarloaf School.
The aquatic mural was designed by KWHS juniors Clementine Girard d’Albissin and Brittany Henson.
They sketched the conceptual design after conferring with Mr. Pete Tirado, Sugarloaf School’s physical education teacher who wanted it to look as though you had entered a shark tank.
Clementine and Brittany initially sketched it small in scaled proportion and then reproduced it in larger scale and with details – sketched in pencil.
The images were projected onto the walls.
Twenty -one students helped sketch them in chalk – it took 4 hours.
Then they all painted. It took 2 full days, but not to completion.
The student also worked 5 hours on Saturday with the help of parent/artist Mrs. Moore, and they will work another 5 hours next week.
Way cool!
Awesome! Is that a toilet paper shoe I see? Very fashionable! Love the artwork.
