LOWER KEYS WOMEN’S CLUB PRESENTS 2ND ANNUAL RACY BUT TASTY EVENT TO BENEFIT VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION & HOSPICE OF THE FLORIDA KEYS
–A bit naughty, but very nice, LKWC charitable gala features dinner
and show by the Magic Conchs’ All-American Male Revue–
OCTOBER 12TH
Ladies, get your dollar bills out and be ready to dance the night away Saturday evening, October 12th with host Lower Keys Woman’s Club at its now-annual event, Racy but Tasty, in the Tortuga Ballroom of DoubleTree by Hilton Grand Key Resort at 3990 South Roosevelt Blvd. in Key West. Each year, in furtherance of its mission to support local charities through fundraising, LKWC chooses a worthy nonprofit organization throughout the Florida Keys to receive funds raised by this event. The 2013 recipient is Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys.
Arguably the island’s best girls’-night-out of the year, 2013’s Racy but Tasty event is sponsored by Boondocks Grill & Drafthouse, Diamonds International, Fairvilla Megastore and A Caribbean Dream Salon & Spa. Ticket sales for raffles, giveaways, a Silent Auction (along with the slightly saucier Not-So-Silent Auction), as well as one 50/50 drawing will also contribute to funds raised at the event. In addition, there will be a one-of-a-kind champagne raffle, courtesy of Diamonds International: all guests purchasing champagne at its champagne bar receive a token in each glass which will identify the winner of a beautiful piece of fine jewelry from the respected Duval Street company. Doors open at 4:30pm, and a served dinner begins at 5pm. With a special appearance by local performer Inga “The Swedish Bombshell” from Aqua nightclub, and commentary provided by emcee and event chairperson Carol Callowhill, dinner guests will be treated to an evening of non-stop entertainment.
After dinner, the night really begins to heat up as the Magic Conchs’ All-American Male Revue dancers as they take the stage to perform. With a DJ to cue up their respectively chosen playlists, Chippendale’s has nothing on this talented group of handsome men from the local community who volunteer their time and dance prowess. Patrons may tip dancers with any denomination of bills dispensed in the usual manner typical of male revenues. Audience participation is enthusiastically and humorously encouraged. Ushers will also circulate through the crowd to pass the hat and collect donations from attendees more shy or faint of heart. The evening concludes with the crowning of the male dancer raising the most charitable dollars as 2013 Racy but Tasty King. 2012 winner Racy but Tasty King John Myer will be on hand to defend his crown.
President of Lower Keys Women’s club Abby Oglesbee notes, “ We are extremely proud of our Racy but Tasty event as it raises a great amount of money for a very necessary charity in our community. Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys provides smiles, hope, warmth and hugs, when they are most needed. It enriches the lives of local residents and their loved ones and holds their hands through very difficult times.”
Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys President and CEO, Jody Gross comments, “We are so gratified by the bond we have formed with Lower Keys Women’s Club through this event. As recipient of its fundraising dollars two years in a row, we could not be more appreciative of the fantastic support this organization has shown VNA/Hospice, and the event itself is fast becoming a fundraising event highlight among the island’s nonprofit community. LKWC definitely puts the “fun” in fundraiser!”
If you didn’t get to enjoy the fun at last year’s sold-out Racy but Tasty event, don’t miss your chance this year. The VIP package ($ 100 includes meet-and-greet with dancers, gift basket valued at $ 50, and tables adjacent to the runway with a champagne toast and special table favors) is already sold out, although a waiting list is being taken. General tickets at $ 50 for dinner and show were still available at press time, but going fast. Please contact Lower Keys Women’s Club at 305.849.2722 or http://www.lowerkeyswomensclub.com to purchase tickets.
